On Jan. 7, 2013, ViaSat announced that they delivered their 500th airborne VR-12 Ku-band VSAT satcom antenna packaged together with their ArcLight technology, breaking the military and general aviation market milestone.

VR-12 is served for aircraft, requiring a limited size, weight and power of onboard communications equipment, while meeting the requirements of advanced broadband satcom for media-rich use.

VR-12 airframe systems includes a ”hatch-mount” version-a complete antenna system and radome package that escaping a C-130 aircraft hatch. Other installations include tail mounts for the PC-12 (U-28), commercial Gulfstream, and other planes, as well as a fuselage mount for government MC-12W aircraft.

Paul Baca, the General Manager of ViaSat Global Mobile Broadband said that the 0.3m VSAT VR-12 antenna resisted to the trends of larger antenna designs. He also said that VR-12 has been a key to achieving many successful Ku-band installations. With more Ka-band satellites become true, he planned to provide a new VR-12 Ka-band antenna of the same sign as a new choice.
