Thales' Spanish Subsidiary Adds Two Contracts to Growing U.S. Workload

Satellite manufacturerThales Alenia Spaceand its subsidiary in Spain have won two subcontracts to provide telemetry, tracking and control, and radio frequency equipment for two commercial satellites that are being constructed byLockheed MartinandSpace Systems/Loral (SS/L), Thales announced May 10.


Thales Alenia España equipment will be used for New Sat'sall-Ka-band Jabiru-1 satellite and the newly contracted Star One C4 satellite for Brazil's Star Onesatellite fleet operator. The contracts have a combined value of about 4 million euros ($5.2 million).


Thales said the two deals bring it's Spanish subsidiary's total workload with U.S.-built satellites to 10 projects with a combined value of 20 million euros ($25.9 million), making it Spain's largest space product exporter to the United States.
