As a satellite service provider, Rusat provides service for enterprise customer, Internet service providers and government agencies in Russia. The company announced that they would use Newtec’s latest VSAT hub and end-user terminal technology to launch a new satellite broadband service. This service would make the connectivity in high speed and competitive broadband across the whole Russia by using Gazprom Space Systems’ Yamal-402 satellite launched in Dec. 2012.

So far, the only provided VSAT services in Russia were expensive and available in limited areas of the country. Serge Van Herck, CEO of Newtec stated that the Russian VSAT broadband market experienced a real improvement as more capacity can be used in a wider geographic region.

As the Rusat service will use Ku-band, Newtec’s terminal with high-speed VSAT broadband technology can be easily upgraded later in operating Ka-band by a simple change of Newtec interactive LNB with no hardware adaptation to the satellite modem or the antenna.

Ruduga Internet, as the internet service provider, is the first one to use Rusat’s service providing internet services to the consumer market.
