India Forced to Delay First Navigation Satellite Launch

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has to put off the launch of the country’s first navigation satellite because of a technical issue. The IRNSS 1A, the scheduled departure time is June 12, 2013, aboard the PSLV-C22 launch vehicle, but now try to launch on June 26, 2013. From the reports, the reason of the delay is that a malfunction in one of the electro-hydraulic control actuators in the second stage of the rocket.


The IRNSS 1A is the first in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) constellation which aims to afford terrestrial, aerial and marine navigation services and help the whole region of the disaster and fleet management. According to IRSO, the satellite has passed all the electrical inspections and is prepared to fill propellant. But because the abnormity in one of the electro-hydraulic control actuators in the second stage of the launch vehicle, the organization has to put off the launch to take place the part.


ISRO was originally planned to launch seven more IRNSS satellites to finish the first stage of the constellation which is expected to afford standard service to civilian use and limited service.
