Eutelsat has awarded the type approval to the new 60 cm Manual FlyAway Antenna of AvLTechnologies which is for operation on KA-SAT. With a Ka-band TRIA feed and Eutelsat’s Tooway modem, this Manual FlyAway Antenna gets the approval.
According to AvL, this antenna has advantages in both weight and structure so that it can be installed and operated within 5 minutes. It can be packed into a small airline carry-on compliant backpack because its compact design. And it's less than 16 kg when packed because of its lightweight design. Although the antenna got the approval with manual pointing, it has optional motorization. Except this option, it also has interchangeable X- and Ku-band feeds, Ka-band (LP and CP) feeds as an option.
Steve McGuinness,VP of international sales for AvL Technologies,said that "The new 60cm Manual FlyAway antenna of AvL Technologies is extremely accurate in Ka-band operation. And it performed better than expectation with data rates of above 10 megabits up during testing."
