Comtech Xicom Technologyunveiled its X-BUC block up-converter, which is targeted to commercial and military customers using X-band capacity onXtarand Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) satellites, the company announced Feb. 11. Comtech's X-BUC aims to offer higher power in a compact package so system integrators can offer much higher data-rate uplinks on rugged, mobile satcom terminals. The X-BUC provides 50 watts of compressed output power in a self-cooled, feed-mountable, package designed to operate in harsh environments and meet current X-band system RF requirements. The unit "provides new options for today's oversubscribed satellite communications bandwidth situation. In addition to reliability and ease of use, we focused on being very powerful, very small, very light and priced for the competitive market. We think this is a tremendous new product that sets the bar very high in the marketplace," Comtech Xicom said in a statement. |
