Comtech EF Datasecured a $1 million satellite communications equipment order from an unnamed Asian mobile operator, the company announced May 13. The Comtech EF Data infrastructure equipment order includes: the CDM-625 advanced satellite modem; companion redundancy switches; and CSAT-5060 C-band transceivers. Comtech said the Asian operator would facilitate a service expansion by adding the equipment to an existing mobile backhaul network already powered by Comtech. The operator also ordered equipment from the CX-U series product line managed by Comtech EF Data subsidiary Memotec. The CX-U products will work to combine a mobile site gateway device and mobile backhaul traffic optimization, offering a variety of interfaces and transmission options. “The CX-U Series reduces the bandwidth required to backhaul mobile traffic and eliminates the need for major network upgrades,” Comtech said in a company statement. |
