Xinhua, Chinese state owned news agency, reports the news that China launches the 200th Long March rocket on Sunday Dec. 7, which carrys the CBERS on a Long March 4B. CBERS 4 is namely the Chinese-Brazilian Earth Resource Satellite, which is the fifth satellite in the Earth observation program. A Long March 4B did not enter orbit in December last year. Due to this failure, China speeds up the satellite’s development. According to the plan, China will launch CBERS 5, the next satellite in the series in 2017.

China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, a subsidiary of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), is in charge of the design and manufacturing of the Long March rockets. "In the next 7 years, the Long March rocket family will lead more than 100 launches at least," the chairman of CASC Lei Fanpei said.

On the basis of Xinhua's report, China is going to develop two next generation rockets: the first one is Long March 5, which is able to launch a 25-ton payload to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), or 14 tons to Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO);and the second one is Long March 7, which is able to lift 13.5 tons to LEO or 5.5 tons to a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit. Fanpei said that, "The Long March 5 is designed with China’s upcoming space station in mind, and is planned to begin the its flight in two years."  While the Long March 7 will begin the first flight soon in 2015.
