Cooperating with Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Beijing-based China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) has completed the Final Design Review (FDR) of the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite 4 (CBERS 4).

The completed FDR prepares well for a launching in December which will aboard a Long March 4B rocket from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TSLC). On Dec. 9 2013,  China and Brazil had a launch failure that claimed CBERS 3. Engineers completed the satellite in one year instead of two. Because of that, they decided to speed up the schedule of the joint-satellite.

As planned, CBERS 4 will arrive at TSLC on Oct. 16. And in November, it will go through a final Satellite Readiness Review (SRR).  To keep the program with further satellites, China and Brazil have decided to have a follow-up satellite, CBERS 4A and the potential one.
