Calhoun Satellite DSNG was upgraded for the Fleet by Ateme

On Oct.21, Ateme announced that Calhoun Satellite Communications, the provider of Mobile satellite uplinks services, had upgraded its multiplatform DSNG fleet with Ateme's MPEG-2 and H.264 4:2:2 10-bit contribution encoders and decoders.

 

In early 2012, Calhoun has started to use CM4101 encoder andDR8400 IRD of Ateme's Kyrion for providing video compression in several areas, like football, basketball, motor racing and national news events. Also the CM4101 and DR8400 support MPEG-2 operation of the requirements for legacy mobile uplink.

 

Ateme stated that Calhoun's store contains two dual-dish C- and Ku-band trucks, three Ku-band trucks, one C-band trailer and one Ku-band trailer.

 

David Fruitman, the Owner of Calhoun Satellite Communications stated that its Satellite was proud to be the first mobile uplink operator with a Dual Dish C/Ku Band vehicle in the way, and now a 10-bit codec on board.
